Guidance:
  • Free distribution must be less than 15% of total distribution (sales + free), from the point of registration and importation for PAC.
  • In certain circumstances (e.g., where necessary to conduct pilot studies with free commodities in order to facilitate registration for PAC), more than 15% of total distribution may be permitted with approval from WHP Project Director.
  • Only include distribution of misoprostol tablets purchased with WHP funds.
Tracker:
  • Record the number of misoprostol tablets sold and distributed for free by channel (pharmacies, network providers, non-network providers, MoH, NGOs/other) on separate rows
Workplan:Report the number of misoprostol tablets distributed (free plus sold) under both “Total Project” and “Period Achievement” at appropriate activity line on workplan

Method of Measurement:
  • Coverage benchmark needs to be determined prior to the survey and defined in the workplan.
  • Coverage benchmark could be defined as at least one pharmacy stocking misoprostol in a reasonably sized area (such as a village or district).
  • Coverage benchmark could be set higher to improve access to misoprostol.
  • MAP survey should be stratified to ensure national and regional coverage estimates.
  • Pharmacy survey is only acceptable if the full sampling frame of pharmacies is known.

  • Record the number of pharmacy personnel who were trained in misoprostol for PAC during that month.  (Do not report the cumulative sum of pharmacy personnel trained over the life of the project.)
